Lawnboats in the Dordogne flood

Lawnboats in the Dordogne Flood

February 13-14 on Fabriano Rosaspina Ivoire 70 x 100 cm, rather straightforward work with charcoal, intense crayon and water. A subject I had been wanting work on for some time (the flooded Dordogne, the current and the trees rising from the water on a cold winter day) but took some time and wanted to keep the drawing simple and the lawnboats and sinking boat out of scale with the river and trees. Final title and information: Dordogne Flood 2018 (seek out pretty subjects) inktense crayon & charcoal on paper 27.5 x 39.5 inches 70 x 100 cm 2018. Seek out pretty subjects is a reference to the art dealer Durand-Ruel as described in the recent book ROGUES' GALLERY by Philip Hook
